Ardent has been named as one of the UK’s top 100 financial advice firms in 2021. The prestigious New Model Adviser Top 100 award recognises financial firms that provide outstanding service and clear, understandable advice.
Judges considered companies of every size from across the UK, all hoping to be included in the top 100 list. Companies, and the financial planners who work within them, were measured on a range of attributes including:
- Industry knowledge and qualifications
- Diligent use of technology
- Commitment to client education
- Use of clear and understandable communication
- Investments recommended.

As a company, Ardent specialises in helping clients build their wealth, achieve financial security in retirement, and plan for later-life care. We also work with those dealing with the financial effects of divorce and those wanting to invest ethically.
While being judged for the award, we were particularly recognised for our use of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) funds. Formerly known as “sustainable” investments, the funds can be used by investors who want to put their money into companies that can demonstrate ethical and environmentally responsible behaviour.
Three-quarters of the investment portfolios that Ardent recommended in the past year were ESG funds.
“As a business, acting responsibly is central to everything we do,” Gary continues. “Part of this includes helping those who want to invest in companies that are ethically and environmentally responsible. ESG funds now represent a third of all our assets under advice.”
Ardent also aims to be a socially responsible company, raising money for local, national and international charities. We support our local Citizen’s Advice Bureau and the charity Toilet Twinning, which provides loos to families living in poverty, helping them to avoid preventable diseases.
In addition, the team at Ardent also raised £2,500 for Leukaemia UK during a sponsored walk in September 2021.
“Giving back to the community is important to us,” Gary adds, “but it’s the generosity of clients and others who support us that makes it work.”
