Ardent team update: Our highlights for 2024

As we approach the end of the year and look ahead to 2025, it’s a good time to reflect on 2024 and everything we’ve achieved.

It’s been an important year for us at Ardent, with many milestones along the way. Our final update of the year contains some of our biggest highlights for 2024.

Our vital work with York Cares

York Cares is an amazing charity that partners with businesses to support projects in the local area. Throughout 2024, we’ve enjoyed working on several great initiatives with the organisation.

The Ardent team participated in the Tea and Technology coffee morning – an event where members of the public can drop in and get support with a range of technology queries. This event gave us an excellent opportunity to connect with the local community.

More recently, the team spent the day pruning, weeding, and planting bulbs along Lord Mayors Walk. We’re excited to see the results as our bulbs come out next year!

In July, we were honoured to attend the Golden Moments awards, where we received an award in recognition of our hard work with York Cares throughout the year. The whole team is looking forward to continuing this worthy partnership in 2025 and beyond.

Donations to York Against Cancer

York Against Cancer provides valuable support and resources to patients and their families living with cancer. We’re incredibly proud of the referral scheme we continued running throughout 2024 to help fund their vital work.

We started the initiative to encourage our clients to refer friends and family who need financial planning services. As an incentive, we donate £50 to York Against Cancer for every new meeting that comes from a client recommendation.

To date, we have raised a total of £3,850 for the charity and will continue the scheme in the future to offer our ongoing support.

The personal and professional development of key team members

At Ardent, we’re dedicated to supporting the ongoing personal and professional development of our employees. In 2024, several team members attained crucial qualifications:

  • Ruth Norman passed her Level 7 Certified Financial Planner qualifications
  • Dan Sanderson passed his AF1 exam
  • Andy Tatterton passed his LP2 Financial Services Products and Solutions exam.

These qualifications allow our team to constantly improve the level of service they offer to our clients.

We’re also delighted to announce that after completing her Level 7 Certified Financial Planner qualifications, Ruth Norman was promoted to the level of Senior Financial Planner.

Being shortlisted for the Professional Adviser awards twice

Financial services awards are an excellent opportunity for Ardent to gain recognition for the hard work we do for our clients. Awards are also useful for potential clients looking for a financial planner to work with because they indicate a firm that provides a high-quality service.

In 2024, we were shortlisted in the Professional Adviser awards in the Adviser Firm of the Year category. Although we didn’t win, this was a huge achievement for the whole team and we’re excited to announce that we’ve been shortlisted again in the 2025 awards. Stay tuned for more updates in the future!

Amelia Headley being shortlisted for the North Yorkshire apprenticeship awards

Sticking with the theme of awards, we’d also like to highlight the hard work of our client administrator, Amelia Headley. In 2024, she completed her Level 3 Business Development apprenticeship, receiving a distinction.

Her amazing performance was recognised when she was shortlisted for the Advanced Apprentice of the Year award at the North Yorkshire Apprenticeship award. This was a huge achievement for Amelia, and we look forward to watching her professional development in 2025 and beyond.

Supporting clients through a general election and a difficult Budget

We offer ongoing support throughout the year and in 2024, we guided our clients through some particularly important political events.

Back in July 2024, the public headed to the polls and voted for a Labour government to take office for the first time in more than a decade. Many of our clients felt anxious about what this might mean for their finances. The Budget in October was also very significant as changes to Capital Gains Tax (CGT) and Inheritance Tax (IHT) rules could affect many people.

Helping our valued clients navigate these crucial changes was one of our highlights of 2024. We’re proud that we can help them meet their financial goals despite changes announced in the Budget.

Becoming a Living Wage employer

By supporting our employees with their personal development and rewarding their hard work, we’re able to build a strong team who can deliver exceptional service to our clients.

That’s why, in 2024, we were proud to announce that we became an accredited Living Wage employer. This means we voluntarily pay every employee at least the Living Wage, to ensure that our team can keep up with cost of living rises.

Celebrating the wedding of Andy Tatterton

Finally, 2024 was a big year for Andy Tatterton as he celebrated his marriage to wife Chloe. This was a major highlight for us in 2024 and we wish the happy couple all the best in the future!

We have thoroughly enjoyed supporting our valued clients in 2024 and we’re excited to see what 2025 has in store.
