Your Ardent team update: Charity fundraising

Here at Ardent, our main priority is helping clients manage their wealth and achieve the lifestyle that they desire. But we also recognise the importance of going beyond our day-to-day work to help the community thrive.

Our aim is to make a tangible difference by creating real value for our clients, staff, and owners. We do this by serving our clients to the best of our ability, offering time and financial support to our community through charity initiatives, and helping our employees to grow and achieve their full potential through an employee engagement programme.

Of course, it’s easy to say that you want to make a difference, but that doesn’t mean a great deal unless you act. And that’s exactly what we’ve been doing.

These are some of the amazing charity initiatives that Ardent is involved with.

Making an annual donation of £1,000 to a charity chosen by our clients

Every year, we make a £1,000 donation to a charity doing vital work in the local community and beyond. We ask our clients to choose which charity they want us to support.

Our annual client survey includes an option to nominate a charity that clients believe is worthy of our help and we then donate to the winner. So far, we have supported some amazing charities including:

  • Two Ridings Community Foundation
  • Citizen’s Advice York
  • York Food Bank
  • Dementia Forward

Supporting York Against Cancer with our “Charity Recommendation Scheme”

York Against Cancer is an amazing local charity offering a range of services and support for those living with cancer. Their work is vital in helping those fighting the disease, which is why we chose them when setting up our charity referral incentive, which donates £50 for every initial meeting that comes from a client recommendation.

To date, we have donated £1,050 in this way. So, if you know somebody that may benefit from our advice, you may want to refer them now to help them and support an incredible charity at the same time.

Preparing the next generation for their financial future

Young people do not always receive the financial education they need at school. Fortunately, we are helping to solve that problem.

Elain and Ruth have been working as Education Champions with the Personal Finance Society, visiting Vale of York Academy to teach secondary school students about money matters. This covers topics like budgeting or learning how to understand a payslip, for example.

Through this programme, we are helping to make sure that young people have the financial knowledge they need as they approach adulthood, and we plan to expand into more schools in the future.

Flushing poverty down the loo with Toilet Twinning

While much of our charity work focuses on supporting the local area, we also want to get involved with global issues, and the Toilet Twinning scheme is a prime example of this.

This great charity allows you to choose a toilet that you use regularly and “twin” it with one given to a community where there is a lack of safe sanitary facilities. You then raise the money needed to provide these toilets around the globe.

So far, we have supported facilities in Malawi and Zambia, and we will continue contributing to the charity in the future.

Building a better community with York Cares

York Cares is a wonderful programme that matches the skills of employers and their employees with various volunteering opportunities around the city.

All our employees have pledged to give eight hours each year to work on projects with York Cares. During our first project with them, we helped clean up the River Ouse and preserve crucial habitats for the Tansy beetle.

It was incredibly rewarding to help with a hands-on project like this, especially as we are dedicated to being a socially and environmentally responsible business.

We are excited to see what projects they have for us in the future!

These are just some of the great charities that we are working with at the moment, we plan to do even more to help build better communities and support those in need both locally and further afield in the future.
